Robert B. Radcliff is a third-generation Sheriff of Pickaway County, Ohio, following his father who served as Sheriff for 48 years and his grandfather who served as Sheriff for 30 years. He served as a Lab Technician in the Detective Division for the Sheriff’s Office in 1980 and graduated from the Lancaster Police Academy in 1981 becoming a Deputy Sheriff. He remained in the Detective Division until 1988 when he began working in the Corrections Division with the responsibility of preparing to open the new facility on Island Road. In 1995, he became Jail Administrator where he remained until 2002. In 2002, he began working in the Administrative Division serving as an Administrative Lieutenant second in command to the Sheriff and worked there until he retired in 2012. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for 32 years prior to his retirement. He was elected Sheriff of Pickaway County in 2013.
He was awarded Deputy of the Year by the American Legion Post #134 in 1999, Deputy of the Year by the VFW Post #3331 in 2000, he received a Law Enforcement Commendation Medal from the Sons of the American Revolution in 2007, he graduated from the National Sheriff’s Institute 106th Session in 2014, and he earned the Blue Coat Award from the Fr. John S. Hanan Knights of Columbus Council #5297 in 2017.
Sheriff Radcliff currently serves on the Advisory Committee for Domestic Violence Firearms Work Group for the Ohio Supreme Court, he was appointed to serve on the Sexual Assault Kit Tracking Committee by former Ohio Attorney General, now Governor DeWine and current Attorney General Yost, he is a member of the Executive Board of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, he is a Member of the Community Corrections Board, he serves on the Court House Security Committee, he is a past Board Member of the Pickaway County Senior Center, he is a past President and Board Member of Haven House and he currently serves as a Southwest District Director of the Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association.
Community Involvement includes Noon Rotary, Circleville Elks Lodge #77, Pickaway Lodge #23 (Scottish Rite & Shrine), Fraternal Order of Eagles #685, JC International Senate, Sons of the American Revolution Camp Charlotte, and he is a member of the Lutheran Church. Sheriff Radcliff is the Founding Member of S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) and Original Member of PAAC Board, (Pickaway Addiction Action Coalition).
He has been involved in numerous youth activities from the time his children were in elementary school. He has also served as President of the PTO and has coached various youth sports teams.
Sheriff Radcliff has received numerous certificates of training from Marine Law Enforcement, Organized Crime Training, Hostage Negotiations, Homicide Investigations, Bike Patrol Training, Project Lifesaver Training, Fraud Against Seniors and Financial Exploitation of Seniors. He is a 1980 graduate of Circleville High School.
Sheriff Radcliff is the husband of wife Dorethe and father of four grown children.
